Jameson's Southern Cooking

My daughter and I came here for the first time today and boy was it the best 27min drive to have made on a Sunday. We were greeted with such warmth and hospitality so much so ,we were conversating with people who were not even in our party. The vibe was very familial like. The food was so delicious!!! Take a look at the picture. I do think the baked Mac Chee was a bit underwhelming though. I felt like it needed more cheese and seasoning. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed my food. I look forward to next week. While I was there I learned that the owner is a Marine Corps veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He has had his restaurant for 35 years. It was good to be amongst another veteran. If you read this and you are a veteran, please, stop by and purchase a plate of food. Let's support our fellow comrades!

Let me just start off by saying if I was able to give Jameson's Southern Cooking more then 5 stars I would! I was at my job and my partner and I decided we wanted to try this place after hearing everyone else at work rave about it! Upon entering the restaurant you are immediately greeted with the overwhelming, intoxicatingly delicious smell of freshly cooked southern food! The restaurant itself is a nice small place with a few tables to sit down and eat. The owner walked us through the menu and even showed us a few specials for the day. I decided to get a combo meal of chicken and ribs. Each meal on the menu comes with homemade corn bread and 2 sides. I initially wanted chili over rice as a side but it was still being cooked, so I opted for the Baked macaroni and cheese and the mashed potatoes with gravy. The owner explained to us that nothing is precooked and our order would take about 20 minutes. The owner was kind enough to give us a bottle of water as we waited. Our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time for home made cooking. When I opened my take out container (see picture below) I was met with that same delicious overwhelming smell! I started by biting into the piece of fried chicken. When I say this is the best fried chicken i have ever had I mean it! The first bite sent you into food and flavor paradise! The chicken skin was perfectly crunchy and the chicken itself was unbelievably juicy! Each bite got better as i went on. I then focused on the ribs which were wrapped neatly in tinfoil. The ribs were cooked to absolute perfection and were practically falling off the bone! Each rib was generously sauced with homemade barbeque sauce! I then turned my attention to the sides I had ordered! The mashed potatoes and gravy were absolutely perfect! The baked macaroni and cheese was even better! This place is a hidden gem that many people pass by everyday in there travels not realizing what delicious food awaits them inside! The owner was extremely respectful and humble! If you haven't been here yet I strongly recommend that you check it out you will not be disappointed by the end of the meal I was already researching what I wanted to get for my next visit as I had already decided half way through I would be a return customer.

Classic comfort food! Owner is really friendly as well. Fried chicken was perfectly crispy and so tasty! The gravy is so flavorful. Make sure to also get something with Jameson’z bbq sauce. Sides are a good size with so much flavor. Can’t go wrong at this place.

Happen to find this in my travels while I was looking for something on lunch. Had no idea this gem was sitting right under my nose all this time. Owner was a really nice guy. Very helpful and informative. Food came out quick and it was delicious!

I loved this place so much! Will definitely be returning for great food. From the moment we walked in until we walked out, the service was amazing. The food was freshly cooked, seasoned to perfection and delicious. Mr. Jameson has a little slice of the South and all its best qualities in my home state of NJ.

GOD thank YOU for Mr Jameson he is awesome!!! Fried Whiting & Shrimp is the best I’ve ever had in New Jersey!!! Potato Salad tasted right. Mac & Cheese good. Corn Bread Muffin is excellent! Definitely will be back for more fish & shrimp!!! Thanks again see you soon…

Jamison’s has a great soul food menu with some really good options. The service is top notch, though I only did take out. I recommend trying the friend whiting, yams and collard greens but you can’t wrong no matter what you pick at this place!!!
